Thanks to her I am listening to the one and only version of "Han Solo and the Princess" that DOESN'T go into the Imperial March. Anyone who has AIM and trusts the file sharing feature on it flash me a window.
Oh. My. God. I LOVED THIS MOVIE!!!!! A few debating points -- jump in at will:
(1) Since Anakin was created by the Emperor, was his fall to the Dark Side inevitable? I say yes, since he was essentially conceived by the Dark Side, a Rosemary's Baby if you will. To me it's miraculous he was ever redeemed.
(2) Is Anakin or Luke the Chosen One? I think it could be argued both ways since Vader kills the Emperor in ROTJ.
(3) Padme: dead or decoy? Once again, either choice is logical. I do buy the theory that Leia has a strong Force imprint of her mother from birth. I think Leia is much, much, MUCH stronger than Lucas himself has given her credit for. That, plus the mother/daughter bond is naturally stronger than the mother/son bond (although some sons can never cut the apron strings :P)
(4) Attachment is forbidden to Jedi. While it destroys Anakin in RotS, is it what saves him in ROTJ?
(5) "That boy is our last hope." Did Obi-wan just forget about Leia or does he not sense as Yoda must the depth of her abilities? Or does he think her anger with Vader for Alderaan taints her? She could certainly strike him down in a rage rivaling Anakin's assault on the Tuskens, leaving Palpatine with a younger, angrier apprentice.

Date: 2005-05-21 11:37 pm (UTC)Lots of these stuff we touched on the other night on the phone (which was great fun, btw! I love our chats!). But something occurred to me from the other night. Remember when we were wondering how the twins thing could've been a surprise to everyone given the technology, and did Padme know or not? I mean, we assumed she did, but weren't sure. But yeah, she totally knew about the twin thing. Because the first thing she says when baby number two pops out is "Leia!". She had names and everything for them! :)
But why didn't she tell Anakin? That's still one to think about. I liked the theory that deep down she sensed something was wrong.
