Reasons not to vote for W

He endorses a plan that prevents military personnel from retiring/deactivating on time if their unit is shipped to Iraq or Afghanistan. Guess that's what they get for fulfilling their National Guard commitment, unlike their Commander in Chief.

He signs an unconstitutional ban on partial birth abortion. Not unconstitutional because it bans an abortion procedure, but because it leaves no provision for the health and safety of the mother. I don't have a beef with people who are against abortion. To each their own. But the medical community testified before Congress that this was the safest procedure to perform in a second trimester abortion, and if I was in my second trimester and my doctor said "It's either this procedure or your life," I'd burst into tears and give them the go ahead. They'd need to pump me with anti-depressants afterwards, but better than wheeling me down to the morgue because Bush was on his fucking soapbox.

Rape rooms in Texas, torture in Iraq. Coincidence? I think not.

Truman said the buck stops here. Bush can't pass it around enough.

No (Rich) Child Left Behind. The poor ones don't matter. Neither do their teachers.

Oil Wars Episode II: The Sins of the Father are Revisited by the Child

Seven minutes. He's told our nation's under attack and he sits staring into space like an idiot for SEVEN MINUTES.

Patriot Act = Unconstitutional Declaration of Martial Law

He says God tells him we're right, then says religion isn't a part of this war. No wonder people come up with phrases like "All I need to know about Islam I learned on 9/11."

He looks like a monkey. A trained chimp is running our country.

As long as he and his buddies have money, everything's okay. Fuck the rest of us.

Cheapest unleaded gas in my area: $1.83.

BUSH MUST GO

It's per gallon. Metric units are a closed book in America. Which can cause problems when they try to build a space craft with Europeans...
Yup, petrol prices are horrendous at the minute. Even agricultural diesel is something shocking.

11:40 PM Laura serves milk and cookies

I almost had a heart attack before I remembered that mean the first lady.

[identity profile] soulstrings.livejournal.com 2004-06-04 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
Wow auntie LOL. Wow.

Not to say your milk and cookies aren't bad, I haven't tried them but I'm sure they bring all the boys to the yard. Damn right.

AMEN!!!

I didn't vote for Dubya the last time, and I'm sure as hell not voting for him this time around. To me, Oil Wars Ep II were more like "you picked on my pappy... the men in my family have balls and I'm gonna prove it!"

And I'd be HAPPY with 1.83 in gas. Today it's 2.07 here. I filled my car a couple weeks ago, and I have never, EVER gone over 20.00 for a tank of gas. I went over 22 that day... I'm thankful I can afford it, but I'm also glad that my Subaru is fuel effecient.

I stumbled upon a website one day... and for the life of me, I can't find it now, but it had a t-shirts and bumper stickers that summed it up: "Somewhere in Texas, a village is missing its idiot" and "Save the environment, replant a Bush in Texas".

Not sure which of those I like better. They both ring true... especially after the "oh, we won't do damage to the Alaskan Wildlife refuge by drilling for oil there" statement. Um... WHAT?!?

[identity profile] lauraflute.livejournal.com 2004-06-04 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
Eeeeesh. Only one good thing I can say about SC. We seem to have the cheapest gas in the nation.

And yeah, I do feel kinda guilty bitching about gas prices when Brits pay about $4-5 a liter for theirs. I saw a cartoon in the local paper of a Brit couple filling their tank with the price in American dollars saying "I can't wait until our American vacation! Finally a country with reasonable gas prices!" (Which was so done by an American, because a Brit would've said holiday instead of vacation and petrol instead of gas.) But when you're used to cheap, you're used to cheap.

[identity profile] 88l71.livejournal.com 2004-06-04 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not cheap even here in Texas. 2 something/gallon most places.

Just y'all Bush bashers do me a fav...diss the guy all you want, but don't mess with Texas, okay?

LOL.

I hear that America pays the least for gas out of all of the "industrialized" countries. Unfortunately we can't blame Bush for the gas fiasco, as the same thing happened during Clinton's administration. Just like with outrageous health care prices, it has to do with who is running this country. Unfortunately OPEC, Chevron, the FDA, etc. are the big guns and corporations that fuel America. Until we decrease our dependency on fuel, there's not much we can do when the world oil industry hits a bump. We have the technology to produce more hybrids and a hydrogen fuel cell automobile, but as long as we have the Dick Cheaney's and Condi's running the guns we won't nationalize health care or produce such an automobile.
