Joe texted me last night and said Sandy was about to kick ass in his area. He asked me to give Sue lots of hugs and kisses from him, but please don't tell her Daddy's in the hurricane. I delivered, but now I'm seeing pictures all over FB that are freaking me out and wonder if I should have told her anyway.

Really worried about him. And you too, yanksfan. The Great Power Outage is a blip compared to this. At least then you got to drink it up if I recall correctly.

Odds are he'll be fine so long as he stays off the roads. No reason to worry Sue. But extra hugs for you as you watch and wait!

He got word to me that he's okay. That area's pretty rural so cell coverage is spotty even in the best of times.

Hey, HLR! I just saw this post. Thanks for the kind wishes. And yes, the Great Power Outage was actually totally, completely, wonderfully, awesome. I actually had a blast. Most people did. But that was because it wasn't accompanying a natural disaster, and was in the middle of summer so no one was stuck freezing in their apartments due to lack of heat. It was just a nice time. And as I recall, there was actually no looting. Not even in the city. But I think that was probably because it was less than 2 years after 9/11 and New Yorkers were still feeling pretty united and had a "we're in this together" mentality. I heard on NPR that this time things weren't necessarily so peaceful. :-(
