Christmas time is heeeeeere
Just downloaded the Charlie Brown Christmas special and am watching Christmas Eve on Sesame Street made in 1978. Before Elmopalooza, before the adults found out Snuffy was not a figment of Big Bird's imagination, when Linda, David, and Olivia were still on, and of course before Mr. Hooper passed away. *sigh*
Happy Hannukkah, Mr. Hooper, wherever you are. I miss you.
After a trip to the skating rink, Oscar taunts Big Bird with the riddle of how does Santa get his fat ass down a skinny chimney? (Okay, he doesn't say that but you can tell he wants too.) Kermit and random Patty kid set out to solve the mystery. The subplot is Bert and Ernie playing out Gift of the Magi with Rubber Duckie and the paper clip collection, only Mr. Hooper whoops O. Henry's ass and gives them back what they traded in. Along the way Cookie Monster tries to write Santa but keeps eating his writing utensils, Bob and the kids sing "Keep Christmas With You" and Linda taught them the sign language, and Oscar sings "I Hate Christmas." All is happily resolved and at the end after the credits Gordon and Susan walk in to find Cookie Monster ate their Christmas tree.
If only they still showed this instead of Elmo Saves Christmas.
